South Hill - Tucker Family Home
William and Hannah Tucker and their children lived in this house which William bought in 1824. Tucker had been freed in 1815 by George Trotter, who entered the document in the Manumission Book of the Abolition Society at Philadelphia. Tucker freed his wife and children before 1830. William and Hannah were proprietors of a mercantile business and confectionary. When he died in 1837, Hannah continued the business until her death in 1842.
