Two and a Half Centuries of Lexington
Celebrate 250 Years of Lexington with a full year of events honoring our city’s past, present and future.
Lexington, Kentucky, was founded in 1775—one year before the Declaration of Independence was signed. In the 250 years since, it has grown into one of the nation’s great cities, known worldwide for its unique history, welcoming people, and vibrant culinary, horse and bourbon culture.
In 2025, we’re celebrating Lexington’s 250th anniversary with an entire year’s worth of public events, including live music, food, arts, speaker series, and more. In this milestone year, we commemorate our city’s past and look forward to an even brighter future.
