LEXINGTON – The economic impact of travel and tourism in Fayette County set a record of $1.7 billion in 2024, according to a study for the Kentucky Department of Tourism released today.
Tourism in Fayette County generated more than $131 million in state and local tax revenue. The industry also employed 11,851 people in the county.

Lexington accounts for 12 percent of the state tourism impact.
In the Lexington tourism region, known as Bluegrass, Horses, Bourbon & Boone, tourism spending was $2.7 billion, which generated 19,211 jobs and more than $207 million in state and local taxes.
