One of the best things about visiting or living in a city is that there is something for everyone. And this year’s reader-voted top Southern cities from our annual South's Best awards have it all—arts and culture, fantastic food, sporting events, shopping—but still have a distinct energy and personality. From metropolises like Atlanta and Nashville to historic spots like Annapolis to coastal destinations like Tampa, these cities represent the wonderful diversity of our region. 

Lexington, Kentucky

Celebrating its 250th birthday this year, Lexington has long been a destination for horses and bourbon, but it offers so much more these days. (Although a visit to horse country is a must for the scenery alone.) Explore the area’s Shaker Village, drink and dine your way through the walkable downtown, or shop locally at Greyline Station.
