Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate

Ashland, the home of famous 19th-century statesman Henry Clay, is at the edge downtown Lexington on a beautiful 17-acre wooded estate with an English parterre garden. The home is filled with Clay family belongings and memorabilia. House Beautiful magazine recently named Ashland one of the “50 Most Famous Historic Houses in America.” Cafe on site is open seasonally.

  • Operation Hours: Open Tuesday through Saturday from March through October. Always closed on Mondays. Closed in January. Closed February except for groups of 10 or more. Tours on the hour Tuesday - Saturday, 10 a.m. with the last tour at 4 p.m. Open on Sunday April through November from 1 p.m. with the last tour at 4 p.m. A special "Women’s Voices" tour is offered Friday and Saturday at 2:30 or by special appointment for groups of 10 or more.
