The Distillery District is a revitalized piece of Lexington history and home to the recently renovated James E. Pepper Distillery, as well as two modern bourbon distilleries, bars, breweries, restaurants, music venues, independent retailers and more. With so many options in such a lively area, it’s no wonder that the Distillery District has quickly become one of Lexington’s most exciting hotspots.
Grab A Bite & A Drink
The Distillery District is home to one of Lexington’s most legendary pizza spots, Goodfellas. This pizzeria is known for their huge breadsticks and New York style pizza, as well as delicious craft cocktails. Crank & Boom Ice Cream Lounge is the perfect place to grab a treat after. Their inventive seasonal flavors are made completely from scratch, and using 100% Kentucky dairy. Their ingredients may be local, but the flavor is out of this world. The Burl is another iconic Lexington staple found in the Distillery District. It’s a live music venue and retro arcade, but it’s also got some tasty eats. The Burl Food presented by Kismet is a crowd favorite with its outdoor seating and walk-up window.
You can find three stops on the The Brewgrass Trail in the Distillery District!
Ethereal Brewing is the only brewery in town with a dedicated yeast lab, so it’s no surprise they’ve perfected their Belgian farmhouse and American craft beers. They have a wide selection ranging from staples like IPAs to ambitious out-of-the-norm brews.
Wise Bird Cider specializes in crafting small-batch traditional-style ciders. They mostly use apples from Kentucky but also seek out harder to find apples from Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania to help create their delicious ciders.
Elkhorn Tavern also calls the Distillery District home. This intimate lodge-style bar and restaurant whips up inventive craft cocktails from spirits distilled in-house and serves delicious charcuterie boards. Be sure to try the burgoo, a classic Kentucky dish!
