five below band is a regionally known band that performs in Kentucky, Ohio,and Indiana. Their style of music leans toward Southern Rock, Classic Rock,and Funk. Five Below Band’s musical influences are The Allman Brothers Band, The Black Crowes, Bob Segar, BB King, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, Matchbox Twenty,

The Police, The Faces, and ZZ Top.

 

The band has been performing together since 2000. They have composed and recorded several original songs that include “Sweet Solitude” and “Nasty Bed.” Their song “Sweet Solitude” was selected by The Midwest Rocker for Life 2007 CD. This CD was part of the GROUND CONTROL drunk driving prevention campaign for the Midwest.

 

The band was nominated for the best cover band for the 2022 Lexington Music Awards. In 2023 they were nominated for Lexington Music Awards for best male vocals, best bassist, best drummer, best cover band and the community service award.

 

five below band has performed at Rupp Area, Manchester Music Hall, Proud Mary BBQ, Kentucky Grill and Horseshoes Saloon, Bluegrass Barrel House, New Direction Bar and Grill, Baxter's 942, Gerstle's, to name a few. Each year during the summer, the band also plays at several local area festivals; Central Bank Thursday Night Live in KY, Rock Between the Bridges in KY, Fort Branch Town Fest in IN, and Kentucky State Fair in KY. The five below band members who are driven to provide their audience with an energetic performance and great music are: Shawn Black (Lead Vocals), Dave Medley (Bass Guitar, Keyboard and Vocals), Vint Collins (Guitar and Vocals), David Rich (Guitar and Vocals), and Jeff Frohlich (Drums and Vocals).
