Position Title: Business Development Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibility of the Business Development Manager is to provide support to the sales team by developing new accounts, contacts and leads through research; building new relationships; and coordinating sales sponsorships. This position supports the mission of the sales team by striving towards the sales team’s primary goals to increase the number of new conventions, meetings and events in Lexington and to cultivate new relationships.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
• Coordinates and prepares the sales team members for sales calls and tradeshows by doing the necessary research; provides updated and relevant content to insure a successful and productive client meeting. 
• Manages all trade show sponsorship requirements by meeting the deadlines and coordinating with the marketing team on necessary brand materials. 
• Assists with the coordination of site visits, FAM trips, out of market events and local events. 
• Uses all available sales data and resources to research and find new channels of business to pursue based on all varying size of groups for Lexington. 
• Identifies potential new areas for lead development and expands existing accounts across all market segments to uncover new leads that will be turned over to the appropriate Director of Destination Sales to complete the sales cycle. 
• Supports the Vice President of Sales and Services with third-party planners by developing relationships, generating new leads, researching groups that are the right fit for Lexington. 
• Assist in the third-party market segment by attending trade shows and events, conducting presentations and sales calls and soliciting these planners that generate new leads. 
• Coordinates with third-party organizations to proactively share promotions, incentives and the VisitLEX branding for potential new conventions, meetings, and events. 
• Manages CRM data and keeps the data updated as it pertains to the third-party market. 
• Collaborates with the Vice President of Sales and Services and the marketing team on special projects.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in sales or has hospitality industry experience. 
• Experience in promoting Lexington, KY is preferred.  

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s or Associate Degree from an accredited institution recommended. 
• Possesses valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB
• Frequently communicates with employees and customers in person, on the telephone, and on the computer. 
• Frequently remains in a sitting position at a desk. 
• Frequently uses the computer with fingers and hands. 
• Frequently works in a well-lit, tempered room. 
• Frequently drives motor vehicle to visit and call upon customers. 
• Frequently exposed to outside elements when traveling for business. 
• Occasionally lifts objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds when moving supplies. 
• May be required to stoop, bend, or kneel.

Department Name: Marketing
Reports To: Vice President, Marketing 

RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibility of the VisitLEX Intern is to be reliable and resourceful with an enthusiastic interest and/or knowledge of metropolitan Lexington. Interns are expected to play an active role in the marketing, convention, and visitor services departments, learn about the hospitality industry and contribute valuable efforts to the success of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
• General office and administrative duties (answering phones, operating office equipment, etc.) 
• Providing customer service and local information to visitors at the Visitors Center
• Work with various departments on special, tourism-related projects 
• Assist with the planning, preparation, and participation of CVB events 
• Support servicing of groups through registration assistance, directions, etc. 
• Other duties as assigned will depend on the focus of the CVB, but will include a variety of areas such as convention services, marketing, finance, and general customer service.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Products
• Self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision at times
• Excellent active listening, verbal and written communication skills
• Detail-oriented and resourceful

• Must be enrolled in a college/university
• Must be a junior, senior, or graduate student
