VisitLEX, Lexington Parks & Recreation, the Bluegrass Sports Commission, and the Downtown Lexington Partnership are teaming up to present the Bluegrass Trifecta, a new foot-race series comprised of the BIG LEX 4 Miler, Bluegrass 10K and A Midsummer Night’s Run.

The Bluegrass Trifecta will offer travelers and locals an opportunity to experience the nature, beauty and excitement of Lexington throughout the summer.  The Bluegrass 10K and A Midsummer Night’s Run will take place in downtown Lexington while the new Big LEX 4 Miler features the historic grounds of Keeneland. Each of these races offer competitive routes for serious runners in addition to fun runs and walks, and kid’s activities to encourage family fitness.

The inaugural Big LEX Four Miler is the first race in the series and will take place Saturday, May 25th at Keeneland Race Course. The 43rd annual Bluegrass 10K, presented by the Downtown Lexington Partnership and Lexington Parks & Recreation, will take place on July 4th and is part of the city’s Fourth of July celebration.  A Midsummer Night’s Run, a 5K organized by the Bluegrass Sports Commission, is a Lexington tradition 35 years in the making and is scheduled for Saturday, August 10th.

Mary Quinn Ramer, VisitLEX President, stated: “We are thrilled to present the inaugural Big LEX Four Miler and join forces with two iconic Lexington foot races to introduce this new race series.  Since we are in the heart of horse country, it only seems fitting to name the series the Bluegrass Trifecta!”

Monica Conrad, Director of Lexington Parks & Recreation, said: "We're proud to partner with VisitLex and the Bluegrass Sports Commission to present Lexington’s first race series, which offers something for everyone! Our residents have shown their full support for over 40 years to the Bluegrass 10,000 and we look forward to expanding that support to the Bluegrass Trifecta.”

"We are thrilled to have A Midsummer Night’s Run included in this great collection of races," said Bluegrass Sports Commission Board Chairman David Bertram.  "While each of these offer a unique, standalone experience, the Bluegrass Trifecta will bring them together and give the running community the opportunity to compete for grand recognition while experiencing the best of Lexington’s summertime events."

“Downtown Lexington Partnership is excited for the opportunity to provide running enthusiasts a fun, festive course through downtown at a challenging distance for the Bluegrass Trifecta Race Series. DLP, alongside our planning partners at Lexington Parks & Recreation, encourage everyone to sign-up for the Bluegrass 10,000 and include this Fourth of July tradition in your journey toward the Bluegrass Trifecta," said Terry Sweeney, President & CEO, Downtown Lexington Partnership.

Runners may sign up for each race individually or sign up for all three races and receive a 35% discount.  The Bluegrass Trifecta price is $75. For more information or to sign up, go to
