We’ll never stop bragging about our world-famous bourbon, bluegrass, and horses. You should totally check them out. But there’s a treasure trove of hidden gems in town that can take your Lexington experience to a whole other level. Plan to stay in town a little longer so you’ll have plenty of time to wander off the beaten path for these under-the-radar attractions that locals can’t get enough of.

Started as a beloved pop-up by James Beard Award-nominated Chef Sam Fore, Tuk Tuk Snack Shop now permanently resides in a South Lexington shopping center that could easily be overlooked if you don’t keep your eyes peeled. Deeply influenced by Fore’s upbringing and culinary journey, Tuk Tuk Snack Shop’s menu thoughtfully marries Sri Lankan techniques and ingredients with classic Southern dishes categorized into unique mains, sandwiches, snacks, sides, and desserts.
2. Granddam

It’s hard to call this local hotspot a hidden gem because the word is definitely getting out about Granddam, the in-house restaurant of The Manchester Hotel in Lexington’s Distillery District. Executive chef Paula Endara’s elevated Appalachian cooking includes country ham and leek chowder, and lamb Wellington packed with locally foraged mushrooms, while the panoramic rooftop bar above is a tribute to horse racing culture in 1960s South Florida. TIME Magazine declared it one the 100 Greatest Places in the World. We agree.
3. Trifecta: Glass - Art - Lounge

Where else but this new Lexington establishment could you sip craft cocktails from a full bar while roaring furnaces melt glowing glass for breathtaking sculptural works brought to life before your eyes by some of the region’s best artists? Social, tactile, and downright magical—any time spent at Trifecta: Glass - Art - Lounge is certainly time well spent.

Or you can rent one of several private rooms so you and your travel buddies can serenade each other all night long. All ages are welcome before 10 p.m., but it’s 21+ after that.

A longtime favorite among locals, Tee Dee’s Lounge is the East End homebase of Lexington blues legend Tee Dee Young. The guitar virtuoso and vocalist has been dazzling crowds at this laid-back community landmark for over 30 years, often with stellar guest artists. Under the radar and as authentic as it gets, Tee Dee’s Lounge is open on Monday nights only and the show starts around 8 p.m. The perfect excuse to extend your weekend stay an extra day.
