On January 14, 2023, the University of Kentucky men's basketball team defeated the University of Tennessee at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville 63-56. The Wildcats defeated the fifth-ranked Volunteers. 
 
The Wildcats hold the upper hand in the all-time rivalry against Tennessee, leading the Volunteers 158-77. However, Tennessee has been the better team in recent years.
