The Bluegrass Region of central Kentucky is known around the globe for its legendary landscapes, and Lexington is at its heart. It's no wonder that it attracts the attention of movie makers and movie stars alike. It is a magnetic destination for many reasons. Whether you are a horse lover or you are planning to produce a movie about a horse, the Horse Capital of the World is the perfect backdrop.

Plan to vacation in Lexington and you might bump into a few celebrities. The Queen of England has horses at Lane's End Farm and stays there during her visit. Kentucky native Johnny Depp bought his mom a farm in the area and visits frequently. Ashley Judd is a fixture at Kentucky Wildcat basketball games. Laura Bell Bundy, the musical star of Legally Blonde, was born here, as was the ever-gorgeous George Clooney.

Actor Steve Zahn married local girl Robyn Peterman (daughter of the catalogue genius J. Peterman) and is active in local theatre. William Shatner and his artist wife Elizabeth own a Saddlebred farm and are prominent in local horse circles. Actor and playwright Sam Shepard has a home here, as does actor Josh Hopkins of Cougar Town. Harry Dean Stanton began his acting career at the University of Kentucky and has returned for the annual festival held in his honor.
