Sports are alive and well in the Horse Capital of the World
Everyone knows the Bluegrass is famous for horse racing, but there are lots of ways to satisfy your sports cravings while in the region. Home to the University of Kentucky, collegiate football and basketball attracts nationwide attention. April through September you can experience America’s favorite pastime with the Lexington Legends baseball team at Applebee’s Park. On Sundays, spring through fall, watch polo at the Kentucky Horse Park. Lexington has women's rugby, a skateboard park, disc golf, and the list goes on. Amateur or professional, sports are alive and well in Central Kentucky!
Athletics is a powerful vehicle through which to promote civic pride, sportsmanship, health and vitality. Contact John Pohl, (800) 233-1221 extension 116, Senior Destination Sales Account Executive at the Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau, for information about the extraordinary facilities available in Lexington and the Bluegrass Region for all kinds of sports from softball to swimming and tennis to track.
