Find out why meeting planners are sold on Lexington after just one visit.
They came from nine states across the country - coast to coast, near and far: California, Maine, Mississippi, Texas, Ohio, Kansas and Arizona.
Twenty meeting planners recently experienced Lexington for the first time.
"I was fully unfamiliar with Lexington, but it got rave reviews from other planners in the office. I left impressed and dedicated to trying to book an event there in the future."
After touring the convention center, we went to Taylor Made Farm for a tour, bourbon tasting and dinner. The farm is home to Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome, North America's all-time leading money winner at more than $14 million.
Amid the rolling hills, we listened to a Blue Grass band, heard first-hand from a local jockey who shared stories about his racing career and tasted delicious bourbon sampling by Buffalo Trace Distillery.
"The food, venues, accommodations and activities were spectacular representations of all Lexington has to offer, and you have much to be proud of there! On the drive home, my mind was turning over different ways to use all of what I saw there and to create new opportunities for my existing clients, future clients and your city."
On the next day, we toured the Kentucky Horse Park, home to more than 50 different horse breeds at work and play. The horse is showcased through daily equine presentations, horse-drawn tours, riding, museums and special events. It also has space to seat 5,500 at its Alltech Arena, making it the perfect location for tradeshows, conventions, concerts and sporting events.
We then headed to the Apiary for a reception and dinner. This spectacular downtown venue blends Southern hospitality with old-world craftsmanship. Nestled behind historic brick walls and lush greenery, this distinctly urban space is both grand and intimate.
The visit wouldn't have been complete without a visit to Keeneland, a national landmark with its tranquil setting, lovely stone fences and historic buildings. It is one of the most genteel and beautiful racetracks in the world. Live Thoroughbred racing takes place in April and October, live Thoroughbred auctions are held several times a year, and visitors are always welcome.
"Thanks for the great Southern hospitality. The entire trip was a fantastic and enlightened experience."
Whether they left by car or plane, the meeting planners' trip was quick and convenient.
Lexington is situated -- at the intersections of Hwy 75 & 64within a three- to five-hour drive of many of the meeting planner's clients. There are 18 direct flights into the Blue Grass Airport, where visitors will enjoy the beauty of one of America's most scenic air approaches and the convenience of being just 10 minutes from downtown.
Come for a visit. We'd love to add to our collection of testimonial quotes.
