A Gift from the Desert: The Art, History and Culture of the Arabian Horse

This breathtaking exhibition, will be presented by the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation.  It will feature 410 artifacts and works of art from 26 museums and private lenders including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Admission is included in the Kentucky Horse Park's admission,  $21 adults, $11 children.   4089 Iron Works Parkway.

The Bluegrass Palette of Andre Pater

Sunday Jun 27, 2010 - Sunday Oct 10, 2010

The Bluegrass Palette of Andre Pater will open at the Art Museum at the University of Kentucky on June 27 and run through October 10, 2010.  The exhibition will be organized around themes:  Early Work, Thoroughbreds, Jockeys, and Racing, Hounds and the Hunt, and Cattle in the Bluegrass Landscape.  General admission:  $8 and $5 for senior citizens.  Museum open Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. and Friday from noon to 8 p.m.  Admission is free on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Rose Street and Euclid Ave.

Horse Mania 2010

Big Band & Jazz Concert Series

Held every Tuesday evening from May 25 through August 31.  Big Band & Jazz is one of Lexington's longest running and most beloved concert series.  Bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating and pack a picnic dinner.  7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.   FREE!   956 Turkey Foot Road.

Southland Jamboree/Bluegrass Music Series

Join the Southland Association and Lexington Parks and Recreation for the 5th season of the popular Bluegrass Music series.  The Jamboree is held every Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. thru September, weather permitting, on the lawn next to Collins Southland Bowling Lanes.  All concerts are free and family friendly.   205 Southland Drive.

Bluegrass Farmers Market

The Bluegrass Farmers' Market, is the only farmers market in Lexington providing 100% locally grown products.  Vegetables and fruits are usually picked the day before you buy them.  All of the vendors are members of the Kentucky Proud program, offering a wide assortment of vegetables, flowers, herbs, and fruit, not to mention farm-fresh eggs, grass fed beef, local honey, jams, soaps, rubs, and bedding plants.  Every Saturday & Tuesday through October 30, 2010.  Saturdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesdays 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.   3450 Richmond Road.   Thursdays 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.  Newtown Pike Health Department.

Creatures Great and Small Art Exhibition

Animals emerge from artworks to inspire questions regarding life and death, morality and meaning with humor, whimsy, sensitivity and insight.  Featuring more than 60 artworks created by artists from 23 states, including Kentucky.  Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  Free and open to the public.  209 Castlewood Drive.
