A Gift from the Desert: The Art, History and Culture of the Arabian Horse

This breathtaking exhibition, will be presented by the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation.  It will feature 410 artifacts and works of art from 26 museums and private lenders including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Admission is included in the Kentucky Horse Park's admission,  $21 adults, $11 children.   4089 Iron Works Parkway.

The Bluegrass Palette of Andre Pater

The Bluegrass Palette of Andre Pater will open at the Art Museum at the University of Kentucky on June 27 and run through October 10, 2010.  The exhibition will be organized around themes:  Early Work, Thoroughbreds, Jockeys, and Racing, Hounds and the Hunt, and Cattle in the Bluegrass Landscape.  General admission:  $8 and $5 for senior citizens.  Museum open Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. and Friday from noon to 8 p.m.  Admission is free on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Rose Street and Euclid Ave.

Horse Mania 2010

The public art project - which incorporates 89 full-size horses and 50 foals decorated by local artists and Lexington school children - promises to charm and delight Lexingtonians and visitors alike.

Kentucky Classical Theatre Conservatory SummerFest 2010

A beloved summer tradition of theatre under the stars,  2010 SummerFest at the Arboretum is where Lexington and Central Kentuckians gather each July.   Come and enjoy "Rent" directed by Tracy Bonner.  Gates open at 7 p.m.  Performances begin at 8:45 p.m.  General admission adult is $10, child is $5.  500 Alumni Drive.

Lexington Farmers Market

Now through November, 2010 every Saturday at Cheapside Park visit the Lexington Farmers Market!  You can purchase herbs and spices, honey, beeswax, candles, body care products, organic products, eggs, meats and fresh, seasonal produce!  Hours:  7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.   Beside the old Courthouse.

Artist's Market

Visit the Artist's Market every Saturday in June, July and August for an informal arts and crafts market that includes works from local artists.  8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bluegrass Farmers Market

The Bluegrass Farmers' Market, is the only farmers market in Lexington providing 100% locally grown products.  Vegetables and fruits are usually picked the day before you buy them.  All of the vendors are members of the Kentucky Proud program, offering a wide assortment of vegetables, flowers, herbs, and fruit, not to mention farm-fresh eggs, grass fed beef, local honey, jams, soaps, rubs, and bedding plants.  Every Saturday & Tuesday through October 30, 2010.  Saturdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesdays 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.   3450 Richmond Road. 

Lexington Legends vs Savannah Sand Gnats

Creatures Great and Small Art Exhibition

Animals emerge from artworks to inspire questions regarding life and death, morality and meaning with humor, whimsy, sensitivity and insight.  Featuring more than 60 artworks created by artists from 23 states, including Kentucky.  Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  Free and open to the public.  209 Castlewood Drive.
