Winchell's: It's Not Only Televisions by: Wendy, Cuisine Blogger

BLUEGRASS FLAVORS AND FEEL:
Even people who don't love sports bars are drawn to Winchell's on Southland Drive.

One of their claims to fame is "more televisions," something I can take or leave. Okay, mostly leave.

But the other part of their marketing slogan is "better food," and they get props for delivering bar food--especially over-exposed in a town built around sports--with more creativity and localism than almost anywhere else in Lexington.

Part of the reason is that the two local chefs, Eric “Abe” Lansdale and Graham Waller, are graduates of the Culinary Institute of America, a pedigree that often destines its alums to the higher end of the restaurant scene.

After stints in fine dining across the country and the Bluegrass, they partnered to open a casual dining establishment that appeals to a major demographic: Wildcat fans.

Try the pork chops marinated in Makers Mark bourbon, the great soups, "Funny Farm" (country fried pork chop topped with country ham, bacon, a fried egg and pepper jack cheese served on a Kaiser roll with hand cut fries) and, of course, the Kentucky Hot Brown.

Tanna - These are so sweet and the video makes my heart melt too It really is amianzg that something as simple as making pancakes made Maliya so excited and feel super special. I think I'll always have a little helper now anytime I make pon-cakes ;o
