Thursday Night Live: A place to mix, mingle and listen to some great local music! by: Niki

On Thursday nights in Lexington throughout the summer and into the fall, head downtown to Cheapside Park for an opportunity to take in some great music, grab a beer and a bite to eat, and catch up with friends or meet a few new ones. For nearly a decade, the Downtown Lexington Corporation (DLC) has been hosting Thursday Night Live next to the Old Courthouse, now the Lexington History Museum.  Each summer the event has grown.  During the first few years, the crowd was mostly made up of downtown professionals who stuck around for an hour or so to have a quick beer and listen to some music before going home. Now, the event has grown into a full-blown family event with people bringing their chairs-in-a-bag, children and dogs for an inexpensive night out – the downtown professionals are still coming too.  In addition to the beer vendors that have always been part of the mix, DLC has invited food vendors to set up at the park.  DLC has also come up with a creative way to help local non-profits raise a few dollars and help you feel good just by tipping for a good cause. Each week a different Downtown Lexington Corporation member non-profit organization mans the beer tents and collects the tip donations….its a win-win for everyone!

If you’re going to be in town on a Thursday night, come on out to Cheapside Park and enjoy some local Lexington flavor.  If you’re a Lexingtonian, make plans to attend this week’s Thursday Night Live this week.  See ya there...
