What? No more Diet Coke? by: Mary Quinn

Bookmark and Share

I'll be honest--I am addicted to Diet Coke. I realize that it offers me nothing of nutritional value or substance, but I love the stuff. There is just something about a cold Diet Coke out of the can -- or even better, a fountain Diet Coke that makes me happy deep down in my soul.

But I've heard all of the reasons why I should give it up, and I've wondered recently if I could ever convince myself to abandon the DC and reach for a cup of tea, perhaps, instead.

So my research took me to MonTea last week, and I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised. New to the Chevy Chase neighborhood, MonTea is a delightful spot to sample teas and pick up the latest tea accessories.

I arrived at 2 p.m., so I knew a caffeine "kick" was in order. The wonderfully knowledgeable and kind gentleman behind the counter made a number of different recommendations, and I settled on a pomegranate-infused tea. I'm thinking tea + pomegranate has to make for a healthly afternoon pick-me-up.

To my surprise, I really liked it! I don't think I'm ready to hand over the Diet Cokes for good, but I am relieved to know that there is a tea for me.

And MonTea is fabulous! Should you find yourself out and about in the Chevy Chase neighborhood, you should take a minute or two and stop in for a visit and some tea. The options are endless, and you'll leave feeling good about life.
