MEDIA ALERT! Traffic Advisory for Friday and Saturday, October 31st and November 1 in Downtown Lexi

LEXINGTON, KY - Over 80,000 people are expected to be in downtown Lexington for four Garth Brooks concerts on Friday, October 31st and Saturday, November 1st. The impact on downtown Lexington will be significant and will require advance planning for residents and visitors alike. The concerts will take place at Rupp Arena at 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on both dates. Employees who work downtown are requested to leave the downtown area on Friday between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to assist in alleviating traffic congestion. For patrons attending the Garth Brooks Concert at Rupp Arena, the following routes are recommended to avoid traffic congestion:

From West (Frankfort/Louisville) - Take Versailles Rd. North and turn left into the Lexington Center parking lot at Gate 3.

From North - Take the Newtown Pike Exit off of I-64/75 and stay on Newtown Pike, cross over Main St. onto Oliver Lewis Way and turn left into the Manchester St. Lot.

Travelling from the north on Highways 27, 60 or 68 continue in town and turn west on New Circle Road (Highway 4). Continue until the Newtown Exit and turn south following Newtown Road, cross over Main St. onto Oliver Lewis Way and turn left into the Manchester St. Lot.

Travelling from the south on Highways 27 or 68, turn west on New Circle Road and travel to the Versailles Road exit. Turn right and follow Versailles Road into downtown and enter the Lexington Center parking lot at Gate 3.

Travelling from the east, take Exit 104 (Richmond Road) and follow it into downtown Lexington, turn left on Broadway and right on High Street to enter Lexington Center parking lot at Gate 1 or 2.

According to Carl Hall, Director of Arena Management, "People should plan ahead and arrive early as this will be a great opportunity to enjoy the NO FENCES FESTIVAL as well as numerous restaurants in the downtown area. We expect the parking lots near Rupp Arena to fill up early for the 6:30 p.m. shows. To help those attending the 10:30 p.m. shows we strongly urge you to use the auxiliary parking on Old Frankfort Pike and travel to and from the arena on LexTran buses."
